CLAMSHELL DOMES offer an unparalleled 360/180 degree field of view, with an absolutely stunning immersive nightsky experience. When this observatory dome opens up, you really are under the stars!

The clamshell dome is the preferred observatory dome for LASER COMMUNICATION and 

BIG-APERTURE telescopes. It is not necesary to sync the telescope to the dome. Both shutters can be independently moved and positioned to enable wind-shading of the optical group.

All our clamshell domes are equipped with strong belt-drive systems, employing industry-grade gearboxes, driven by powerful electric DC, or AC-motors. If you need rapid-deployement operation, we offer a special fast-opening shutter drive system.

In combination with our SRQ-200 DIMM station tower, our 3,75M clamshell dome is the right way to beat that nasty boundary layer!

This dome offers a 360 degrees unrestricted field of view. No sync hassle. 

The supplied control system can be directly connected to mains power from 110VAC..220VAC.  Control by computer is easy with the integrated USB  or ethernet interface.

A strong 220VAC  based belt drive system for both shutters guarantees reliable operation, under all circumstances. Short opening and closing times make it the ideal dome for rapid deployment systems. In manual mode the shutters can be placed in any position.

DIMM station SRQ-200 towers

This DIMM station employs a state-of-the art modular tower construction for installation in the desert and remote  locations.

The SRQ-200 tower has internal cable conduits for secure power and data cabling. The upper platform level has hard-points for radio-link antenna's. We offer a special assembly for satelite uplinks.

The dome platform can be reached by a ladder with safety rings for secure climbing (taken ourt for clarity in the images).

Both the ladder- and dome-entry can be locked.

A stable platform accepts domes up to 3,75M and allows two persons in the dome during maintainance, or repair work.

Our strong proprietary hexagonal tower construction and the heavy cross-bar pier adpter system offer the extreme rigidity needed for DIMM applications in remote locations.

Water-tight equipment- and control- boxes are attached to two sturdy mounting plates between the lower pylone elements.

The control system for the clamshell dome is installed there as well, to make interfacing easy and straightforward. Control of the shutters can be done in the dome as well as on ground level. The clamshell dome has a dual shutter control system, that enables independent opening and closing of the dome shutters.
